Challenge: Mitigate risk by tracking performance, managing fleet logistics and increasing visibility of the commercial spray / spread operation on machines that could be miles apart.
Solution: A 10-PUC™ trial of Farmobile data collection for commercial fleet and grower benefit.
Result: Immediate, never-before-seen fleet and agronomic visibility, driving three years of steady performance and digital growth.
Challenge: With a large fleet serving most of Illinois, a digital solution to track equipment in the field and show as-applied data to farmer-customers after completion was critical.
Solution: A trial run with Farmobile in the Spring of 2019 to track their fleet at select locations. The total trial included 12 Farmobile PUC™ devices to track those operators’ efficiencies.
Result: After a successful trial, Brandt’s added the PUC™ device to 150 application and tender trucks. Operations managers have seen three main advantages – fleet efficiency, better agronomic data and more accurate record-keeping.
Challenge: To optimize service to farmers, new ways to monitor all machines in a mixed commercial fleet while compiling a uniform data set was imperative.
Solution: In 2018, ONE promotional Farmobile PUC™ device was installed on a farmer’s equipment.
Result: What began as an interest in grower connectivity quickly advanced to a fleet-focused expansion to 45+ PUCs installed.
Challenge: Managing 10-yr. rotations on 60+ machines (worth $250k each) requires tracking of engine hours. Machines lose value when engine hours exceed averages.
Solution: Farmobile collects + displays LIVE machine data to tracks tach hours, fuel useage, working vs. idle time and acres covered. The machine dashboard + reports eliminate guesswork, provides immediate visibility for easy decision making.
Result: Better machine purchases, faster equipment trades, less stress, cost savings.
Challenge: Change the industry’s approach to, and interaction with, data by making it one of a farmer’s most valuable commodities. Technologies such as IoT and cloud computing help generate large amounts of precise data, but there are gaps in connectivity to data repositories with data standardization.
Solution: By using multiple AWS services to run its application, the new system is built for speed, efficiency, and scalability, and can handle tens of thousands of concurrent PUC devices in use during peak periods of seasonality.
Result: It’s now easier than ever to use data to understand best practices, increase productivity + profitability and find new revenue streams. We organize the data they produce in a way for others to accelerate agriculture’s learning base and understand how crops interact with their environments and the soil.
